It might come as a surprise, but little Wellington has more bars and restaurants, per capita, than the Big Apple. And with so much beautiful countryside for nurturing and raising great ingredients, you know that our eateries are some of the finest in the world. Wellington is also a really cool place for anybody who likes craft beers, because it is often dubbed the ‘craft beer capital’ of the world. Nobody said you can’t tour a city with your taste buds.

This super cool and relaxed part of the city is filled with hipsters, designers, shoppers, students, revelers, and the eternally chic. It contains a lot the trendiest bars and restaurants in Wellington, so get yourself down there and hang with the cool cats. Go Back in Time at the Zealandia Sanctuary
Take a brief, ten minute, drive out of downtown Wellington and you will come across the Zealandia sanctuary. It is nestled within a residential area, so you might have to use an eagle eye to find it. Zealandia is a project designed to give back 225 hectares of land to the natural wildlife and plants that reside there. The aim is to get the area back to a pre-human condition, which is pretty exciting. So, if you like your wildlife up close and roaming, get yourself out to this fascinating nature sanctuary.
Go Behind the Scenes at WETA
There is one big thing that everybody knows about New Zealand and that is that it was the location for smash hit trilogy Lord of the Rings. For fans of the fantasy epic, there is no better place to take a trip. You can get up close and personal with the action, by taking a dedicated Lord of the Rings location tour. Or, you can stroll around the remarkable WETA Workshop Museum, where most of the costumes and special effects were created.
Catch the Sunset on Mount Victoria
Mount Victoria is very easy to climb, so don’t worry about mobility issues. In fact, you can drive all the way up to the top. We have to say that the walk is better though, because you get to experience a lot of beautiful green spaces on the way. Once you are at the top, rest your feet and gaze out over the entirety of the harbour and cityscape, all laid out like a picture postcard.
